The 27 year-old chose to reject a new contract at Blackpool to sign a three year deal at the Reebok Stadium.
During five years with the Seasiders, the defender scored 9 times in 190 appearances.
He is Bolton's third summer signing along with Marc Tierney from Norwich and Hayden White, joining from Sheffield Wednesday.
