Poyet set for Sunderland boss

Former-Brighton manager Gus Poyet is set to replace Paolo Di Canio in the next 24 hours as Sunderland boss.

The 45 year-old was sacked while on air working as a pundit on BBC by the Seagulls after four years at the Championship club.

The ex-Chelsea player is said to be on the verge of agreeing the contract and has held talks with Sunderland owner Ellis Short.

The Black Cats, who lie bottom of the Premier League table, dismissed the Italian after six months and 13 games.
