Everton 3-3 Liverpool- Sturridge saves Reds

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge scored an 88th minute equalizer to deny Everton's Roberto Martinez a win in his first Mersyside derby in a exhilarating game. The match was off to a great start from a Liverpool perspective as midfield maestro Philippe Coutinho passed the ball past James McCarthy into the net after a Sturridge flick on. A few minutes after, Belgian winger Kevin Mirallas leveled as he pounced Leighton Baines' curling corner which Martin Skrtel could not clear. A brilliantly executed free-kick from Luis Suarez swerved past the Everton wall and into the bottom corner which silenced Goodison Park for the second time. On-form striker Romelu Lukaku restored clarity for Everton as the Belgian tucked in good play from Everton. Eighty-two minutes gone, Lukaku rose well after Barcelona loanee Gerard Deulofeu did well out wide and did even better with a cross. However, the Toffees could not hold on as the ball glanced delightfully off Sturridge from a Steven Gerrard free-kick.
